gaming por vida

The Cost of Living

cost of living is on the rise as we've heard millions of times already and...they're not lying when they say there's no end in site. there really isn't. i mean, it will happen, we just don't know when.

luckily the video game are the type of consumer good that will tend to outpace the current economy. there's not much more that i could say on the subject without getting into trouble here, but i can say this much. of all the gaming stocks i follow i haven't really seen much of a change. they remain fairly unaffected despite rising cost of living and these horrible gas price hikes.

a lot of us probably don't realize it, but the gaming industry has a huge impact on our economy and will continue to do so in the coming years. i'm sure the industry will see hard times as many companies have and will within the gaming industry itself and others, but unlike others it will continue to thrive despite current hardships.

there could be many reasons for this. first of all consumer goods usually stand firm in a rising economy. that's because we need them. like...makeup. we need make up...everyone needs make up so a cosmetic's co would probably do well during trying times such as these.

I couldn’t say (even if I wanted to) how much better a gaming co would do versus a cosmetics co, but I can tell you this i'd rather drive my clunker, tighten my belt and buy video games instead of going to the movies or spending money on dinners that i really can't afford right now. will i buy as many new video games? Maybe, maybe not it depends on the game, but since my belt has gotten even tighter recently i've decided to enroll in gamefly. although i won't be making any new game purchases any time soon i do see myself making plenty of used game purchases to keep myself entertained between my netflix movie mailings and study breaks.

i see myself gaming the rest of my life as most gamers like me do...i doubt the gaming industry will ever really suffer all that much.

*disclaimer: this is not investment advice and should never be construed as advice because i don't know shit about anything. so if you run out and buy all kinds of gaming stocks and lose everything you own as a result then you're the idiot not me. so there. *raspberries*
